The California Fire Exploring Association Board of Directors is proud to announce a scholarship available to Explorers attending the California Fire Exploring Academy.

Explorers interested are encouraged to apply using the requirements below. At this time 10 scholarships in the amount of $225 (total cost of academy) are available. Questions regarding the scholarship can be addressed to the Academies Scholarship Coordinator, Chandra Mesenbrink cmesenbrink@cfea.net

Directions:
Complete a regular explorer application at
http://www.cfea.net/form.html. Applicants that do not have an Explorer Academy application submitted on-line will not be eligible to apply for a scholarship. This is where we will get you and your advisors contact information.

Submit scholarship essay (directions below) with your application, last day to submit essays will be February 1, 2007

Provide 2 personal references including names and telephone numbers.

Remember to include your name, department name, post number, your advisors name and telephone number at the top of your essay.

Essays will remain confidential and results will not be shared with anyone but you and your advisor.

Essay may be mailed with your application or submitted electronically via e-mail in Microsoft Word format.

Essay: Express in 500 words of less (not to exceed 500 words or less than 250 words) why you should be selected for this scholarship. To assist you in ideas for your essay we included some questions below.
  1. How long have you been a Fire Explorer?
  2. What interests you in the Fire Service?
  3. What do you want to achieve by attending the 2004 California Fire Exploring Academy (CFEA)?
  4. What can you contribute to the CFEA?
  5. Will you be able to attend the CFEA without financial aid?
  6. Describe yourself and your professional goals.
  7. Describe any community service you have been involved in (does not have to be fire service related)
The winners shall be selected on the basis of combined scholastic achievement, community service, personal merit, and financial need.
